Pakistan Condemns Iran Missile Attack 2024: Latest Updates on Cross-Border Conflict and Regional Tensions

Pakistan Condemns Iran Missile Attack

Iran Airstrike

On Tuesday, January 16, Iran carried out an airstrike on the locations of the terrorist group Jaish al-Adl in Pakistan. In response, Pakistan claimed that the airstrike resulted in the tragic death of two children and injuries to three others. Following the attack, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an official statement, stating that this airstrike constitutes a violation of our airspace.

According to reports from Iran’s official news agency IRNA, missiles and drones were used for the attack in Pakistan. Iran’s English news channel revealed that the Revolutionary Guard of Iran was responsible for carrying out this strike. However, Pakistan, while reacting to the attack, emphasized that the violation of its sovereignty is entirely unacceptable. This incident could have serious consequences.

Pakistan lodges complaint with Iranian Foreign Ministry

Pakistan has strongly opposed the Iranian attack and lodged a formal complaint with the Iranian Foreign Ministry. The matter was discussed with senior officials in Tehran. Additionally, an Iranian diplomat was summoned to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry over the violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty.

An official from Pakistan stated that terrorism is a shared threat for all countries in the region, necessitating collaborative efforts. However, such attacks do not provide evidence of being good neighbors. This could seriously undermine bilateral trust.

Jaish al-Adl group confirms the attack

Jaish al-Adl has confirmed its involvement in the Iranian attack. They provided information that Iran carried out the strike using missiles and drones, targeting the homes of several extremists in the Baluchistan mountains. The attack, executed with at least six drones and multiple missiles, resulted in the destruction of two residences belonging to Jaish al-Adl fighters. In this strike, two underage children lost their lives, and two women were injured along with a teenage girl.

Last week, 100 people died in bomb blasts in Iran

It’s noteworthy that last week, Iran experienced two bomb explosions resulting in the tragic death of 100 individuals. This has raised concerns about the escalation of the Israel-Hamas conflict. In light of the tense situation, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken may embark on a tour of Arab countries. Iran and Hamas have acknowledged their responsibility for the attacks, but the U.S. has dismissed these claims.

Attack on Iraq-Syria a day earlier

A day earlier, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards launched a ballistic missile attack near the northern Iraqi city of Erbil, targeting Israel’s Mossad agency. Simultaneously, the Guards conducted operations against ISIS militants in Syria. Iran employed ballistic missiles to destroy ISIS gathering points. This attack resulted in four casualties, and several others were injured, taken to nearby hospitals.

Explosions near the U.S. Embassy in Erbil

According to media reports, explosions also occurred near the U.S. Consulate in Erbil, Iraq. The Revolutionary Guards were held responsible for these attacks. The bombings were highly destructive, targeting eight locations near the U.S. Consulate. Some sources claim that near Erbil Airport, Iraq shot down three drones. The airport was temporarily closed to air travelers.

The situation is highly volatile, with multiple attacks and counterattacks taking place in the region. International efforts are crucial to de-escalate tensions and prevent further loss of life and property.
