To grasp the grandeur of the Icon of the Sea, imagine it being five times larger than the Titanic in terms of internal volume. Moreover, it surpasses the Titanic by 35% in length. The Icon of the Sea has already set sail in the sea ahead of its mega debut scheduled for January 27.
Before its debut, the ship was spotted in Puerto Rico. It can accommodate approximately 5,610 passengers and a crew of 2,350 members. According to a report from the New York Post, locals and visitors in Puerto Rico were treated to a glimpse of this colossal ship.
The cost of building this marvel was a whopping $2 billion. It’s an entirely new vessel set to arrive in Miami on January 9. The cruise ship embarked on its journey on December 23 from the port of Algeciras in Spain, crossing the Atlantic Ocean over the past nine days. The ‘Icon of the Sea’ by Royal Caribbean International was constructed in the European country of Finland.
It boasts various packages, including a 7-night stay with several amenities. The ship’s arrival has been eagerly awaited for a long time. According to reports, passengers boarding the ship in Miami will start their journey and spend seven nights on the Icon, visiting ports in the Eastern or Western Caribbean, including the Bahamas, Mexico, Honduras, and Saint Maarten.
The cruise ship features 7 pools and 9 whirlpools, and the largest water park with a total of six water slides. Before the ship’s launch, it underwent several tests. The first trial took place on June 22 of the previous year. According to CNN, the Icon of the Sea is 365 meters long and has an estimated weight of 250,800 tons.
