Rahul Gandhi's Convoy Attacked

Rahul Gandhi’s Convoy Attacked

On Wednesday, January 31, 2023, the rear windshield of Rahul Gandhi’s SUV was completely shattered during his convoy’s journey in West Bengal. Reports suggested an attack on his vehicle, and the Congress party has clarified its stance on the matter.

A post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) read, “Clarification regarding false news – In Malda, West Bengal, an immense crowd gathered to meet Rahul Ji during his Nyay Yatra. In this crowd, a woman approaching Rahul Ji suddenly came in front of his car, leading to a sudden brake. This caused the rear windshield of the car to break due to the use of security barricade ropes. Jananayak Rahul Gandhi is fighting against injustice towards the public. The people are with him; the people ensure his safety.”

What’s the latest news?

Before this incident, as reported by the English newspaper ‘The Indian Express,’ thousands had gathered near the Loha Bridge in Malda district to witness the Nyay Yatra. The attack on Rahul’s convoy occurred when he was traveling on a bus during the march. The entire rear windshield of the black SUV behind Rahul’s convoy was shattered.

Congress leaders have emphasized the security lapse in this matter. A senior Congress leader, discussing the transfer of the justice flag from Bihar to Bengal, informed the media, “All the police personnel are busy with CM Mamata Banerjee’s rally in Malda today. Only a few police officers have been assigned for this ceremony.”

Police claim, ‘The crowd was excessive, hence…’

It was reported that as the justice march entered Bengal from Katihar, there was a significant crowd behind Rahul Gandhi’s car. Due to the pressure, the rear windshield of Rahul’s black Toyota car broke.

…So, was TMC linked to this ‘unexpected’ incident?

According to news flashed on the channel ‘TV 9 Bangla,’ this incident occurred when Rahul Gandhi’s Nyay Yatra, led by him, was in Malda, West Bengal. Sources suggest that some unruly elements caused this incident, and these elements have alleged connections with the ruling party. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding this.

Nyay Yatra entered Bengal again on January 31

In reality, on Wednesday morning around 11:00 AM, Rahul Gandhi’s Nyay Yatra, led by him, entered West Bengal through Malda, progressing from Katihar, Bihar. The former Chief of Congress was seen sitting on the roof of the sports utility vehicle (SUV), slowly moving through the main roads of the city.

Had to change Congress’s schedule due to lack of permission

Earlier, the administration of West Bengal had not granted permission for Rahul Gandhi to stay at the Bhaluka Irrigation Bungalow in Malda district. Due to this, Congress had to change its schedule, and before this, TMC chief and CM Mamata Banerjee had claimed that Congress had not informed them about the proposed Nyay Yatra in Bengal.

Will the justice march prove to be a masterstroke for Congress?

The ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ led by Rahul Gandhi began on January 14, 2024, from Manipur. The journey, covering a distance of 6,713 kilometers in 67 days, will pass through 110 districts of 15 states and conclude in Mumbai on March 20. For the Congress party, this march is considered a masterstroke before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, the actual benefit to the party will only be evident after the election results.
