IPL 2024 schedule announced for first 21 games
The long-awaited wait for the 2024 schedule of the Indian Premier League (IPL), known as the biggest festival of sports, has finally come to an end. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule for the upcoming season on Thursday. However, only the details of the matches for the first 17 days have been released for now. The opening match of the tournament will be between the 5-time champion Chennai Super Kings led by MS Dhoni and the Royal Challengers Bangalore captained by Faf du Plessis. So, the tournament will kick off with a blockbuster clash between MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.
Who will play the first match of IPL 2024?
The first match of IPL 2024 will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22 in Chennai. It’s worth mentioning that the first match of the tournament usually takes place between the finalists of the previous season, but it’s different this time. Chennai had won the title last season by defeating Gujarat.
Why is the schedule only for 17 days in the beginning?
There are general elections scheduled in the country this year. Reports suggest that the dates might clash with those of the IPL. Keeping an eye on the general elections, the BCCI has released a schedule for only the first 17 days.
