Team India’s fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been away from international cricket for quite some time. He last played for India in 2022. However, now Bhuvneshwar has claimed a comeback with an impressive bowling performance. He is playing for Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24. Bhuvneshwar took three wickets early in the innings against Bengal. After that, he took the fourth wicket, dismissing captain Manoj Tiwari.

Actually, the Uttar Pradesh team, while batting first, got all out for 60 runs in the first innings. In response, Saurav Paul and Shreyansh Ghosh came to open for Bengal. Bhuvneshwar was bowling the 11th over for UP. He dismissed Saurav on the fourth ball of the over. Saurav scored 13 runs in 31 balls before getting out. On the last ball of this over, Bhuvneshwar took another wicket, sending Sandeep Kumar back to the pavilion. Sandeep, batting at number three, was out for zero.

 

 

Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed the third wicket for UP, dismissing Anustup Majumdar. Majumdar faced 13 balls, scored 12 runs, and got out. Bhuvneshwar did not stop there. He also showed the way to the pavilion for Bengal’s captain Manoj Tiwari. Manoj made just 3 runs in 13 balls. Until the time of writing, Bhuvneshwar had taken 4 wickets in 11 overs, giving away 20 runs, and had bowled 3 maiden overs. With a strong performance, Bhuvneshwar has claimed a comeback in the team.

It’s worth mentioning that Bhuvneshwar last played a Test match for Team India in January 2018. His last ODI was in January 2022, and he played his last T20 match for Team India in November 2022.

Shreyas Out for 48, Rahane Out for a Duck

Middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer’s contribution of 48 runs helped Mumbai score 281 for six wickets on the first day of the Ranji Trophy against Andhra Pradesh. Team captain Ajinkya Rahane faced the first ball and returned to the pavilion without scoring, facing the challenge on the very first delivery. Nitesh Kumar Reddy (3/44) took the wickets of Shreyas and Rahane. After this performance, Rahane’s return to the Indian team for the upcoming Test series against England has become challenging.

Haryana Dominates Saurashtra with Jayant Yadav’s Five Wickets

With five wickets from off-spinner Jayant Yadav, Haryana made a strong statement on the first day of the Ranji Trophy Group-E match against Saurashtra, restricting them to 145 runs in 55 overs. Jayant dismantled Saurashtra’s middle order, taking five wickets in just 16 overs, conceding 42 runs. Before Jayant, Sumit Kumar dismissed the top-order batsmen Harvik Desai (15), Snell Patel (01), and Sheldon Jackson (01).

Experienced Cheteshwar Pujara, who scored a double century in the previous match, became Saurashtra’s top scorer with 49 runs off 100 balls. In response, Haryana strengthened their position by scoring 122 runs for the loss of one wicket by the end of the first day’s play. Ankit Kumar and Himanshu Rana were at the crease with scores of 68 and 38 runs, respectively. Ankit played an impressive inning, scoring 99 runs off 99 balls with nine fours and one six.
