Ayodhya Airport
On Monday, all eyes were on Ayodhya as the entire country witnessed the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple. Renowned personalities from across the nation participated in this grand event, arriving in different aircraft at the majestic Ayodhya Airport. The newly constructed airport has not only set one but two records, surpassing major airports in Delhi and Mumbai.
Before December 2023, there was no direct airport access to Ayodhya via air travel. Previously, people had to travel to Lucknow Airport to reach Ayodhya and then continue by road. However, on Monday, numerous flights landed directly at Ayodhya Airport.
One remarkable aspect of Ayodhya Airport is the record-breaking speed at which it was constructed. According to Sanjeev Kumar, the Chairman of the Airports Authority of India, Ayodhya Airport was prepared in a record time of just 20 months. The agreement between the Airport Authority and the Uttar Pradesh government was signed in April 2022, and 821 acres of land were allocated for Ayodhya Airport. Although the current terminal is small, there are plans for expansion in the future. The airport is situated approximately 15 kilometers away from Ayodhya city, and the first phase of Ayodhya Airport was built at a cost exceeding 1450 crore rupees.
The second record for Ayodhya Airport is that it connected all corners of the country within a mere 17 days of its inauguration on December 30th. Flights to Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, and Ahmedabad are now available directly from this airport. It is a record in itself that flights to four cities were operational within such a short time. Moreover, on January 22nd, several prominent figures arrived at this airport for the consecration ceremony.
