Tulsi Pujan Diwas 2023: A Guide to Tulsi Pujan Day Rituals

Today is December 25, 2023, and it’s Monday. In Hinduism, Tulsi is considered the incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi. Every year, today is celebrated as Tulsi Pujan Day. Let’s explore how worshipping Goddess Tulsi can bring blessings of prosperity and endless grace from Goddess Lakshmi into your home.

Tulsi Pujan Diwas

In the ancient Sanskrit culture, Tulsi Pujan holds great significance. According to Hindu traditions, December 25 is celebrated as Tulsi Pujan Day. The scriptures describe Goddess Tulsi with immense reverence, considering her a direct manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi. Homes where Tulsi is worshipped daily are believed to be filled with constant happiness and prosperity. Worshiping Goddess Tulsi not only brings relief from life’s challenges but also strengthens financial stability. Having a Tulsi plant at home is considered highly auspicious from a Vastu perspective, as it prevents negative energy from entering.

On this special occasion of Tulsi Pujan Day, let me guide you on how to perform the worship in a way that invites abundance and eternal blessings from Goddess Lakshmi.

Tulsi Pujan Rituals:

– Today, offer incense to Goddess Tulsi and perform her worship. During the evening, after sunset, light a lamp with pure ghee in front of her. This ritual helps resolve all issues related to wealth in your life.

– Alongside the worship of Goddess Tulsi, also worship the Shaligram (an iconic representation of Lord Vishnu). You can offer Tulsi leaves on the Shaligram Shila. This practice invites blessings from both Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Narayana.

– As the month of Poush is about to begin, symbolically drape Tulsi with a red cloth, and gently pluck the leaves.

– During Tulsi Pujan, you can offer a lamp of pure ghee, red vermillion, rice grains (akshat), and sweets as part of the worship.

– Ensure cleanliness during Tulsi Pujan, and wear clean and tidy clothes while performing the rituals.

– On this day, you can also recite the Tulsi Chalisa to seek the boundless grace of Goddess Lakshmi.

– Aarti of Goddess Tulsi is essential during today’s worship. It is believed that her grace will shower upon you, bringing an end to all sorrows in life.

– Additionally, you can chant mantras dedicated to Goddess Tulsi for her praise. One such mantra is: “Namo Namaste Tulsi Paapam Hara Haripriye. Tulsi Shree Maha Lakshmi Vidya Vidya Yashaswini…”

Significance of Tulsi:

– According to the Padma Purana, worshiping, singing, meditating, planting, and holding Tulsi in the Kali Yuga burns all sins and bestows heaven and liberation.

– Tulsi is highly beloved to Lord Vishnu. Without Tulsi, Lord Vishnu’s offerings are considered incomplete. Therefore, Tulsi leaves are an essential part of his worship.

– Planting Tulsi at home is believed to reduce family conflicts.

– For financial gain, pluck eleven Tulsi leaves in the morning. Before plucking, join your hands in front of Tulsi and seek forgiveness from her. Then, pluck the leaves and place them in the container where you keep wheat flour. Using this flour for a few days is said to bring positive changes to your home.

– On Thursdays, tying a Tulsi plant in yellow cloth and placing it in the office or shop is believed to enhance business and bring career growth.

– According to Vastu, homes with a Tulsi plant do not have Vastu-related defects. Tulsi also provides insights into future troubles, and if it withers without any apparent reason, it is considered a sign of impending difficulties.
