In a statement released by Wilkinson’s agent on behalf of his family, it was mentioned that he suddenly passed away at home on Saturday. However, the statement did not disclose the cause of his death.

Wilkinson received an Academy Award nomination in 2001 for the family drama ‘In the Bedroom.’ Additionally, he was nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for the 2007 film ‘Michael Clayton,’ starring George Clooney.

In the 2008 miniseries ‘John Adams,’ Tom received acclaim and recognition, earning Emmy and Golden Globe Awards for his portrayal of American politician Benjamin Franklin.

Born in Britain, Tom Wilkinson had a massive fan following, particularly since his breakout role in the 1997 film ‘The Full Monty,’ for which he won the British Academy Film Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Throughout his 47-year career, Wilkinson appeared in around 100 films, including several entries in the ‘Batman’ and ‘Mission: Impossible’ series. His versatile career also extended to nearly 50 television shows and active participation in theater.
