Renault Revives Classic With Renault 5 Electric Hatchback: Retro Electric Car Leaks Ahead Of Official Reveal Gets 400km Range
Renault 5 Electric Hatchback Car Leaks
Renault 5 Electric Hatchback: Renault is bringing back its 5 hatchback in an electric avatar for the global market, and the unveiling is expected in a few days. The new Renault 5 is a fully electric car and is considered a premium hatchback competing with cars like the Mini Cooper. It features an external charge indicator on its bonnet and its rear styling resembles the popular Renault 5 from the 70s, which was one of the best-selling cars in France during that decade.
Design Inspired by the Concept
The design of the production-spec R5 has been kept true to the recently revealed Renault 5 concept, and it’s a 3-door hatchback with fewer details compared to the concept. The charging port is located at the car’s edge along with wheel arches.
Battery and Interior
The new Renault 5 comes with a 52kWh battery pack and has a length of 3.9 meters, approximately similar to the new Mini Cooper’s size. Its interior features a dual-screen setup and a Google-based infotainment system, while the fabric interior is reminiscent of the older R5. The R5 is a premium hatchback and will only be sold in markets where such cars are preferred. While it might be expensive for the Indian market, bringing back old cars in electric avatars is the latest trend globally.
Several Cars Coming Soon
For India, Renault is preparing a new lineup of cars, including a new SUV coming next year, Duster, and its 7-seater variant, along with a mass-market electric car for our market. Currently, the company sells Triber, Kiger, and Kwid in the country.
