Bangalore Cafe Blast
On Friday afternoon around 1 o’clock, there was a bomb explosion at the Rameshwaram Cafe in Bangalore, injuring 9 people. The bomb squad, forensic teams, and NIA are investigating the blast.
After the incident, the Fire Brigade and Whitefield Police were the first to respond, stating that the explosion occurred in a cylinder. When we arrived at the scene, we saw shattered glass on the cafe’s wall and tables scattered around.
Following this, two BJP MPs expressed suspicion about the blast and claimed it was a bomb blast. In the evening, around 5:30, CM Siddaramaiah himself stated that it was a low-intensity IED blast. A person left a bag in the cafe, which then exploded.
From the blast site, batteries, a burnt bag, and some ID cards were found. The state’s Home Minister stated that the explosion occurred in a seating area, although there was no cylinder present. The investigation is ongoing, awaiting forensic reports.
What did DGP Alok Mohan say?
Karnataka’s DGP Alok Mohan said, “There was an explosion at a cafe in Whitefield, Bangalore. I visited the scene. The CM and Home Minister have been briefed about the incident. 9 people were injured. The investigation is underway. We will receive a report from the forensic team.”
CM’s appeal to the opposition: Don’t politicize the issue
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that our investigation revealed that someone left a bag around 12:00. 8 people were injured. We are examining CCTV footage. It’s evident that someone intentionally left the bag. This was an improvised blast. This shouldn’t have happened, and we’ll ensure it doesn’t happen again.
Furthermore, CM stated that there should be no politics regarding this entire matter. We demand cooperation from the opposition. This was a low-intensity blast.
Eyewitness accounts of the incident:
Sabrish Kundali: Around 1 o’clock in the afternoon, we heard a loud explosion. We rushed to the scene and saw black smoke all around. We saw 5-6 people injured. They were taken to the nearby hospital.
Edison: We were at the cafe for lunch. Around 1 o’clock, we heard a loud explosion. I heard people saying it was a cylinder blast. There were around 35-40 people inside. Among the injured, 4 were employees. Suddenly, ambulances arrived and took the injured to the nearby hospital.
Security Guard: I was doing my duty outside the cafe as usual. There were several customers in the hotel. Suddenly, there was a loud noise, and a fire broke out, injuring customers inside the hotel.
Tejasvi Surya’s statement: Blast incident, CM should respond
BJP Youth Wing National President Tejasvi Surya wrote on social media platform X that he discussed the blast at Rameshwaram Cafe with its founder Nagaraj. He told me that the explosion occurred due to a bag left by a customer. Surya said this clearly appears to be a bomb blast case. CM Siddaramaiah should respond to the incident.
Just spoke to Rameshwaram Café founder Sri Nagaraj about the blast in his restaurant.
He informed me that the blast occurred because of a bag that was left by a customer and not any cylinder explosion. One of their employees is injured.
It’s seems to be a clear case of bomb…
